Thank you for your interest in Focus Photography!  My name is Lesley Keefer and I am a wedding, event and portrait photographer. I settled in the Northwest more than 15 years ago (after stops in Wenatchee, Pittsburgh and Lake Tahoe) and now call Bellingham home — along with my two dogs Olive and Midge.

My love for photography started back in elementary school when my parents gave me their Pentax K1000 and three lenses. This was my first manual camera and I LOVED it! What started as a favorite hobby, eventually led to a career in photography more than 12 years ago.

I describe my style as a mix of journalistic and traditional, I believe it is essential to blend the posed portraits as well as capture those candid and silly moments that truly make your day special.   And, I’m never afraid to use my sense of humor to help bring out someone’s authentic smile.

In addition to Focus Photography, I have worked as the director of photography at Donette Studio in Bellingham for more than 10 years. I have an Associates Fellowship degree from the Professional Photographers of Washington and won “Best Portrait of a Group” (Judges Choice Award) from the PPW, as well as nominations for “Best Portrait of a Bride” and “Best Wedding Candid.”

I annually donate my time to The Arc of Whatcom County, photographing models of all ages with various developmental disabilities for a fundraising calendar called “Smiles of Life” (support the cause and purchase a calendar here: www.arcwhatcom.org ). As an animal lover, I recently started volunteering at the Whatcom Humane Society’s Williamson Way site, photographing pets up for adoption.
